The importance of giving your child meaningful experiences in Nature

It is more important than ever to connect children with nature. Introducing children to the outdoors fosters a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world and can offer a several physical, mental, and emotional benefits.

Unstructured play and exploration is one of the best benefits of getting your little one outside. Unlike the structured environments of classrooms/indoor play areas, being outside provides endless opportunities running, jumping, climbing, and much more. Whether it's splashing in a puddle, collecting rocks or finding flowers, outdoor play encourages behavior that is impossible to achieve inside.

Possibly most important, being outside offers undeniable health benefits for children. Stronger immune systems, improved cognitive function, even reducing stress… there is well-documented proof of this (follow along for more!) . Fresh air, sunshine re-energize the body, mind and soul, and the many sights, sounds, and smells reward the senses and encourage sensory development.

Introducing children to nature from a young age also encourages a sense of environmental responsibility. When children have the opportunity to interact with the natural world, they are able to develop a meaningful connection to the environment. In my opinion, it gives a sense of empathy for the living beings (plant or animal) that we share the world with. With a world focused on technology, we cannot lose our passion for our planet.

Nature-based education promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence.

I hope you will come visit us on the farm and see how wonderful a teacher nature can be!
